About Cub Scout Pack 192

Cub Scout Pack 192, Longhorn Council

Cub Scout Pack 192 serves all youth boys and girls K through 5th grade at our four elementary schools - Hilltop, Lance Thompson, Argyle West, and Argyle South in the towns of Argyle and Northlake, Texas.

Pack Meetings are monthly at the Argyle Methodist Church at 6:30pm on Thursday and there are fun events & Den Meetings thru the year.

Pack 192 is part of the Frontier Trails District in the Longhorn Council and was originally chartered in the 1960's.

WHAT DOES CUB SCOUT PACK 192 DO?

Cub Scout Pack 192 provides a program for boys and girls that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.  We are proud to provide a foundation for building future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. We hope that the whole family will participate in the journey on the path to Boy Scouts.

Adventures - Based on different topics such as hiking, nature, science, citizenship, first aid, sports, and more, adventures are earned as a Cub Scout advances toward their badge of rank.  Once an adventure is completed, a Cub Scout receives recognition in the form of an adventure loop or adventure pin.

Activities - At the heart of Scouting are hands-on, interactive activities.  In Cub Scouts, there are opportunities to spend time as a family and to do things that help build upon the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

Den and Pack Meetings - The Den Meeting is the most important part of Cub Scouting.  It is where Cub Scouts build friendships, work together to learn new things, and progress towards earning their common badge of rank.  Serving as a Den Leader is providing an opportunity to make a positive lifelong impact on your child and other in the den.

Camping and Outdoor Adventures - Cub Scout families have opportunities to go camping and to participate in outdoor adventures.  Lessons learned in the out-of- doors help to develop a life-long respect for the environment.  Cub Scouts learn to live in the outdoors.  They learn to respect our natural areas and how to preserve them so they can be handed to future generations.  Cub Scouts learn how to Leave No Trace while they camp and return home.  All camping activities are run by trained coordinators and parents are always present.

Special Pack Events - Packs can put together special events and activities such as banquets, races, fish derbies and community service projects.

VOLUNTEERS

Pack 192 is a completely volunteer-driven organization which relies on active parents helping to make our many events and activities successful and to provide effective leadership to our scouts. The pack’s year-round program is overseen by a committee which is directed by the Committee Chair, while monthly pack meetings are overseen by the Cubmaster. In addition, parents and other family members are an integral part of a successful cub scout year.

MEETINGS

Our pack meets once a month.  The dens meet more often.  Usually two times a month.  Den meeting times and locations are mutually agreed upon by the parents and the schedule is set for the school year.

Pack 192 meets monthly during the school year at Argyle United Methodist Church, Argyle, TX. Scouts also meet once or twice a month in smaller “dens” which are based on grade-level.

Cub Scout Pack 192 has several recurring events throughout the year.

  • Popcorn Sales (annual fundraiser)

  • Fall Family Camping

  • Pinewood Derby

  • Blue & Gold Banquet

  • Scouting for Food (community service event)

  • Spring Family Camping

  • Catch and Release Fishing Derby

UNIFORMS

Uniforms are procured individually.  For our kindergarten Cub Scouts who are Lions the uniform is the Lion t-shirt.  For all other ranks the Pack’s uniform is shirt (with appropriate patches) and rank appropriate neckerchief and slide.  All other items such as shorts, pants, belts, hats, socks, etc. are encouraged but not required.

You can buy the uniform item at one of the two area Scout Shops or you can buy them online.

Being new to Cub Scouting we recommend visiting one of the two shops.  By visiting the Scout Shop you will get exactly what you need.  You simply tell the staff at the shop your Cub Scout’s rank and size and that they are in Pack 192.  Also, tell the staff you just need a shirt, slide, neckerchief, and the patches for a Cub Scout in Pack 192.  Two good reason to visit the Scout Shop is that some patches already come sewn on the shirts and you get to see what the sizes look like before you buy.  Also, the staff will know exactly what you need and where to place the patches on the uniforms.
